Constructs: Exploring the Fragility of Dependency

As one of my very first photographic projects in "Constructs," I invite viewers on a contemplative journey through the delicate interplay between human presence and material dependency. Through a series of meticulously crafted paper sculptures, I delve into the profound vulnerability inherent in our reliance on physical objects.

Each sculpture depicts a seemingly mundane scene—a person sitting, climbing a ladder, or changing a lightbulb—yet upon closer inspection, subtle details reveal themselves. Tiny cutouts, shaped to resemble common objects, adorn the scene. However, as the viewer engages with the artwork, they bear witness to a narrative unfolding before their eyes.

With each passing moment, the objects within these scenes begin to fade, dissolving into the void. Chairs lose their form, ladders vanish into thin air, and a house flicker out of existence. Through this process of disappearance, I aim to illuminate the transient nature of our material attachments and the fragility of our constructed realities.

Yet, as the series unfolds, a sense of melancholy pervades, for alas, the remainder of the photographs capturing these moments has been lost to time—quite literally. In a twist of fate, my computer, the custodian of these images, was stolen, underscoring the very dependence on technology that this project seeks to explore. From a set of 10 original pictures, only 3 that were posted online survived.

In this absence, we are left to ponder not only the transient nature of human existence but also the irony of our reliance on the very tools that can betray us.
